Mother Africa

South Africa, Sandy’s birth place, was a central part of who she was. Interestingly, her father came from Lithuania, and her mother’s family immigrated to South Africa from the same general area of what is now Eastern Europe, only a few generations before. Yet, one could say Sandy’s soul belonged to Africa. The land itself and its people, their tribal customs, languages, and spiritual connection to nature - moved Sandy. In her own words she was “wowed by the vivid color, movement and joyful art of the African cultures.” Inturn, a large part of Sandy’s work is a love song, in painting forms, all sharing with the world her passion, joy and celebration of her homeland and its people.
